He has however changed focus in recent years. At one time he felt being involved in the things he now pushes was missing God's primary aim in mission-to bring people into a personal relationship with Christ. He still holds to the importance of evangelism, but with it now has become more holistic in his approach to mission. Christ spoke in Words and acted out his message in Works. It is a challenge to me to live in this way.Andrew Kennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02714318748847734699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-512615033583182026.post-41357193756917409422007-07-07T14:58:00.000-07:002007-07-07T14:58:00.000-07:00Hello Andrew,Your most recent blog about seven mar...Hello Andrew,
Your most recent blog about seven marks of authentic mission - I couldn't agree more, but then you already know this.
Jesus' whole life was spent helping people who were in need, therefore it is incumbent upon us to follow his example. "When you did it not to the least of these, you did it not to me". I don't want to dwell on this because its a pet theme of mine, and I'll get too negative, but I'm cheesed off with the die-hard traditional attitude that says we are not called to be a 'social Gospel'. I've even heard it said in response we are only here to confront the unbeliever with the 'Gospel message' - {by this they mean preaching at them}. But isn't it also true that a thirsty man will be more responsive to Christ because a Christian offered him a 'cold cup of water'?
I could go on about this but lets be positive. We hope to be in Burkina again with 3 {not the usual 2} mission trips in Nov/Dec, in fact there is so much interest among believers here that we will probably have to arrange a 4th mission trip! Now that's got to be something worth rejoicing over.

Gordon

Walk on.....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
